Retreats are one way to face these and other issues that breast cancer evokes. For people who have had breast cancer, retreats can be a way of providing time to consider the impact of breast cancer on one’s life, to reflect upon both the difficulties and the potentials that now exist as a result of one’s experience with illness. It begins with the process of “slowing down” and turning inward, withdrawing from normal life and creating a “space” in which to consider and listen to one’s own insights. It involves setting an “intention” for what one would like to discover on the retreat. At the end of the retreat, we re-emerge to our normal lives, but often with renewed perspectives and energy.
Pink Lemonade Project offers professionally led restorative retreats for breast cancer survivors and their partners to relax, rejuvenate, and restore their lives in meaningful and healthy ways. The retreats are facilitated by licensed clinical social workers and licensed clinical psychologists providing guidance and counseling in a relaxed and soothing atmosphere. Pink Lemonade Project retreats are for those moving beyond breast cancer and claiming their new lives.
The Pink Lemonade Project has partnered with the Menucha Retreat & Conference Center in Corbett, OR to provide two different types of three-day retreats, designed for those affected with breast cancer. The beautiful Menucha Retreat Center has been recognized by other organizations as one of the best conference and retreat centers in the United States.
Policy: These retreats are designed for those who are out of active treatment including chemo and radiation therapy. This does not include reconstruction surgery. Please note, Pink Lemonade Project is unable to cover any travel expenses to get to and from the retreat facility. To ensure a meaningful retreat and to be at full capacity, please notify Pink Lemonade Project at least three weeks in advance if you need to cancel. This will give others on the wait list an opportunity to attend the retreat. If it is after three weeks, your reservation is nonrefundable. Pink Lemonade Project reserves the right to cancel a retreat if we are unable to reach the minimum number of participants required. If the retreat facilitator contacts you with no response within one week, we will assume that you are forgoing your application and someone on the wait list will then be considered to attend the retreat.
